Government Will Face Difficulty in Carrying Out Development Projects without Parliament: President

The government’s manifesto cannot be implemented without the cooperation of the Parliament, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said.
Speaking at a rally in Nilandhoo on Saturday night, the President said the country's rural areas are planned to be divided into regions for development. The opposition will try to make trouble by openly opposing the budget and the bills proposed by the government, he said.
The President said the experience of the past four months shows the direction of the opposition. In the name of passing the budget for 2023, some projects have been reduced to 200,000 MVR, he said.

Therefore, the people should move forward with candidates who have the mindset of providing services and can work with that intention, he said. He added that the PPM/PNC can bring about truly sustainable development.

The President said the days should not be wasted in the work of development and in addressing the concerns of the people. The MDP cut the proposals in the 2024 budget because it knew he would bring the projects to life, he said.

"They want to cut the funding and pass the budget, and then we will be stuck, right? I don't want that to happen," he said.

With good governance, it is in the hands of the people to find a way to produce results. The President said the election of members who will not cooperate with the government is a step backwards.

The President repeatedly called on the citizens to vote for the government candidates as they need their cooperation to implement the policies and fulfill their promises.
