Individuals’ Political Views Will Not Cause Danger to Them: President

There will be no threat to any person in Maldives due to their political views, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said on Saturday.
The President said this while addressing a meeting with the people of F. Nilandhoo. He continued by saying that it is important to provide services equally to all citizens, regardless of anyone’s political views.
“Therefore, I regret that any of us, whether in political fervor or other emotions, speaks so clearly against my policy.”
Speaking in this regard, the President added that there is no danger to a person's position or job regardless of his political views.
The President's remarks came as the ruling coalition said in a statement on Friday that it is not the policy of the coalition to discriminate based on political views. He added that “we will win the support and love of the people by bringing the development that the people want and by listening to the people.”
In recent days, some individuals have come forward in support of the ruling coalition and stated that electricity should be denied to those belonging to the opposition, or that they should be barred entry from employment based. The People’s National Congress (PNC) issued a statement today reiterating that the party’s policy is to provide services to all people regardless of political affiliation.
