The Maldives Economic Gateway Project will be the largest economic project ever implemented in the country, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said.
He was speaking during his current visit to the northern islands. He was speaking at a meeting with the people of Hoarafushi. During the meeting, the island council discussed many projects needed by the village.
During the meeting, the council highlighted the need to continue the Ihavandhippolhu project, establish a modern waste management system to solve the island’s waste problem, the lack of ice from the ice plant, and the need to start the projects budgeted for this year.
In addition, the council shared its concerns with the President about the stalled projects. They asked about the plans to dredge the land and find a solution to the housing problem.
The President said the biggest project to come to the region is the Maldives Economic Gateway, which will be the largest economic project in the country. The project will benefit all the islands in the region, he said.
The project will increase the income of the region and create thousands of job opportunities in the region, he said.
