Running Government May Become Difficult If Opposition Attains Parliamentary Majority: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government will face difficulties if the opposition achieves another parliamentary majority.
President Dr. Muizzu was speaking at the second forum of the 'Aha' series held at Sultan Park. The President said it would be difficult to run the government if the majority of the Parliament went to those who did not support the government.
He stated that the government is doing things the right way, and the people will decide what to do with the parliamentary elections on the 17th of next month.
The President elaborated that the Parliament is obstructing the work of this government without any basis. He noted that some of the ministers appointed by the President have not been approved by the Parliament.
Last month, the MDP parliamentary majority group worked with the Democrats parliamentary group to force the rejection of three cabinet ministers. However, neither party provided any justification for the rejection of these ministers. Political leaders across the spectrum have noted that the three ministers in question - Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haidar, Islamic Minister Dr. Shaheem Ali Saeed and Attorney General Ahmed Usham - are more than capable of handling the portfolios allocated to them.
Since then, the government has submitted 24 bills for this session of Parliament, with the aim of enacting changes highlighted in the President’s 14 Week Roadmap.
This government is performing, producing results with the support of the people. While this is being done, the Parliament is not approving ministers without any basis, and they are prompting the impeachment of the President; the government is being harassed without any basis.
