Thinadhoo Airport & Resort Development Project to be Awarded Following Capability Checks: Ministry

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has said that the Pan Pacific Company Limited will be awarded the contract for the establishment of an international airport in Thinadhoo, and the 12 resorts in Huvadhoo Atoll, after ensuring its financial and technical capacity.
The Ministry said in a statement today that people have been circulating stories regarding the company on social media, therefore these quality assurance checks will be carried out to ensure the peace of mind of the people.
The ministry said in a statement that the agreement between Pan Pacific and the Maldives Government is a memorandum of understanding. The memorandum of understanding was approved and signed by the Economic Council to consider the issues required before the start of the operation of the airport.
The company has proposed including a 4 km runway, an international and domestic passenger terminal, a seaplane terminal and all the facilities of an international airport.
In addition to the facilities, Pan Pacific has proposed to develop luxury resorts, a yacht marina and a flight school, the statement said.
The proposals will be signed only after the financial and technical capacity of the company proposed to implement the project is confirmed, the requirements are checked, and the laws and regulations of Maldives are complied with, the Ministry said.
