The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has successfully completed 38 projects worth MVR 2 billion during the first year of the current government’s tenure.
The Ministry highlighted that one of the major challenges faced in implementing these projects was the resumption of initiatives that were halted by the previous administration, particularly in rural areas. Additionally, the approved budget from the previous government posed difficulties in project execution.
Despite these obstacles, the Ministry affirmed its commitment to completing the ongoing projects within the next year. Notable achievements include the successful completion of the Thinadhoo Road Construction Project and the N. Maafaru Land Reclamation and Beach Protection Project.
Furthermore, 11 islands have been dredged, excluding beach protection efforts, with completed port construction projects in M. Mulli, A.A. Malhos, A.A. Thohdoo, and Ad. Fenfushi.
In the water and sewerage sector, a total of 29 projects have been completed, with 26 more projects expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
The dredging work at Guree Forest has been completed, and significant progress has been made on the Thilamala Bridge project, which was initiated by the previous government. As of October last year, the project was 28.7% complete, but with increased efforts, it has now reached 46.6% completion.
The Ministry remains focused on ensuring the timely completion of these projects to improve infrastructure and public services across the nation.
