Minister Muttalib: Flat Agreement Signing to Begin Next Week

Housing Minister Dr. Abdullah Muttalib has announced that the process of signing agreements for flats under the “Gedhoruveriyaa” housing project will commence next week.

Speaking at the government’s public dialogue platform, *Ahaa*, the Minister confirmed that Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation is finalizing preparations to start the signing and handover process within this month.

He explained that the Ministry has been addressing complaints and verifying eligibility following concerns raised about the allocation of flats under the 4,000-unit housing scheme. A special committee was established by the current administration to investigate the allocation process, which revealed that many listed recipients were ineligible. Affected individuals have been given an opportunity to appeal and submit supporting documents.

“This process takes time as we need to carefully check the authenticity of the information submitted. Along with this, we will begin the agreement signing next week,” Dr. Muttalib said.

The Gedhoruveriyaa project, a key housing initiative, was launched to address the growing demand for affordable housing in the Maldives.
