Maldives Prepares to Make Statement at ICJ in Palestine Case

Maldives has decided to make a statement to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on behalf of the Palestinian government, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer said.
The minister was speaking to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament on a resolution moved by Villingili MP Saud Hussain, which calls for an end to Israel's inhuman acts against the Palestinian people and for the formation of an independent Palestinian state.
The minister said that the Maldives has submitted a written statement to the ICJ at the request of the Palestinian government. The statement is scheduled to be delivered on Monday, the 26th of February.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7th, when the Israeli government used an attack by Hamas to instigate a genocide against the Palestinian people. The ICJ has issued a ruling against Israel, stating that it must cease all acts which would amount to genocide and work towards providing aid to the Palestinian people. The Israeli Government has chosen to ignore this and continue its assault on Gaza.
