The President welcomed the International Court of Justice (ICJ) order to stop the genocidal acts of Israeli aggression in Gaza and called for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression.
The ICJ today issued an order ruling on points in South Africa’s submission to the ICJ that required an urgent decision, saying Israel must cease all actions leading to massacres in Gaza and ensure that nothing happens that would amount to genocide.
It also ordered Israel to submit a report to the ICJ within one month on the measures it is taking to implement the order and ensure that no genocide takes place.
In a post on X tonight, the President said Maldives welcomed the ICJ’s order to take preliminary measures. Maldives welcomes the call to stop the genocide taking place in Gaza and to punish those responsible, he said.
The President further said that Maldives believes that Israel should immediately stop the killings in Gaza and bring an immediate halt to their attacks.
"Every human life is precious. It must be protected. Peace cannot be brought through bombings, forced evictions and racial discrimination," he said.
The only way to establish a genuine and lasting peace is to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, he said.
