The national airline has banned Kaashidhoo MP Abdullah Jabir from flying on their planes.
The decision was taken after Jabir abused a seaplane pilot and crew members. A video of Jabir verbally assaulting the pilot and crew has been circulating on social media.
The video shows Jabir shouting rudely at the Maldivian pilot and using obscene language against the pilot’s family.
An official of the airline confirmed to Dhiyares that Jabir has been banned from traveling on any flight. He said this is a common action against those who abuse pilots and crew members in the aviation industry.
Jabir won the parliamentary primary held by the MDP to determine the candidates for the parliamentary elections. However, the MDP has decided to expel Jabir from the party for addressing the public in rude language.
Jabir is a controversial figure who is known to use rude language in and out of parliament and addresses people in very vulgar language. The issue has been raised even before Jabir was elected to parliament.
