Jumhooree Party Calls for Jabir to Repent

Jumhooree Party has falsified Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir’s claim that he gave MVR 6 million to Qasim Ibrahim, parliament representative for Maamigili constituency and Leader of Jumhooree Party.
In Civil Court the previous year, Jabir demanded MVR 6 million from Qasim, claiming he provided the funds for the past presidential election. Jumhooree Party has informed the Kaashidhoo to cease the claims, and advised him to repent.
Last year, Jabir sued Qasim for the total MVR 6 million he lent. This included USD 65,000 (MVR 1 million) of a USD 1 million loan Qasim was yet to return, and MVR 5 million borrowed through President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
In response, Jumhooree Party stated that those close to him must assess his sanity in reference to his recent actions.
He has also gone to court over MVR 29 million he allegedly loaned to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Many have been criticizing Jabir’s actions as of late. Before his election into parliament, Abdulla Jabir was the President’s Special Envoy and served as Advisor to former President Mohamed Nasheed for a number of years.
