Maldives’ Independence Was Nearly Lost by Previous Government: Abdul Raheem

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s time in office had resulted in the country’s independence reaching the verge of being lost, Presidential Special Advisor Abdul Raheem Abdullah has said.
Speaking at a meeting with the people of Veymandoo yesterday, Abdul Raheem, who is also the Chairman of the ruling PNC, said the country was in a very poor and fragile situation when the President took over the government.
He further said that the President's first speech gave the people full assurance that he would protect Maldives’ independence and sovereignty.
In his first speech, the President assured the nation that he would not allow anyone else to rule over Maldives and or its people. He assured that he would build the country based on the wishes of the people of Maldives.
He said he was confident that President Dr. Muizzu would not do anything harmful to Maldives or the people. He urged the people to support the President in his efforts to bring them a prosperous future.
He further said that the President would not respond to those who have failed politically. He said he would prioritize working for the sake of the people.
