Large Aircraft for Maldivian To Fly to Global Destinations This Year: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the country will bring in large aircraft this year to fly to destinations around the world.
Delivering the Presidential Statement at the first session of the Parliament this year, the President said that one of the top priorities to strengthen the economy of Maldives is to expand transport services. In addition to the completion of the domestic airports under construction, two new airports will start this year, he said.
The Cabinet has decided to launch a modern and safe helicopter service in Maldives.
In addition, the national airline will expand its services to fly to many destinations around the world and bring in suitable large aircraft this year, he said.
At the same time, the President said that the work of compiling a national register containing information of taxi service providers in Maldives has already started to strengthen the service of road transport taxis.
The President said the first round of test flights was successfully completed on the 19th of last month. The drone regulation work is scheduled to be completed before the commercial launch of the service, he said, adding that the drone delivery system will be used to deliver medicines and medical consumables to the atolls this year.
