The government will provide unprecedented care and assistance to Maldiviansi living abroad, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said.
He said this in his presidential statement at the opening of the first session of the Parliament today.
The President said that the Maldivians living abroad will not be forgotten about and assured them that his government would provide unprecedented care and assistance to such families.
The embassies in the countries where the Maldivians live will play the biggest role in providing the services needed by such families, he said. Such embassies will also promote Maldives to increase tourist attraction, investment and expand Maldivian business to the world, he said.
The President added that Maldives will maintain relations with any country that respects the safety of the people of Maldives.
“In this way, we will hopefully further strengthen our relations with our neighboring countries, and with Maldives’ trade and development partners, especially Islamic countries,” the President explained.
Furthermore, the President noted that the policies of this government do not include encroachment on the independence of any country, inter-country violence, or deprivation of the international common interest.
The President assured the nation that he would do everything necessary to ensure that Maldives remains a country that opposes the inhuman acts committed by Israel in Palestine, and that this government will remain a country that opposes such atrocities.
The President also said that he had traveled to Turkey and China recently, which had resulted in the country receiving many investments and opportunities.
President Dr. Muizzu thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chinese President Xi Jinping in today's presidential statement, stating that their support for Maldives’ development is greatly appreciated by the government, and the whole nation.
