The President will deliver his first presidential statement in the first session of the new session of Parliament tomorrow.
The opening session of this year's sessions of the Parliament will begin at 9:00 am tomorrow. The session will be opened by the Speaker of the House. The Presidential Statement will then be delivered.
Under Article 84 of the Constitution, the President is required to make a statement on the matters mentioned in that Article at the opening session of Parliament each year.
The article states that every year, in the first session of the first term of the Parliament, the President shall deliver a Presidential Statement on what he sees fit describing the state of the country and outlining policies related to actions he intends to take to improve the situation.
The only item on the agenda for tomorrow's session will be the President's Presidential Statement. The session will conclude after the statement is delivered.
The second sittong of the first session of this year's parliament is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 2:00 pm. The agenda of the meeting included two items. They are the resolution moved by Galolhu North MP Eva Abdullah on the re-appointment of ministers who were not approved by parliament, and the amendment to the General Elections Act to prevent elections from being held during the month of Ramadan.
The Constitution provides for the Leader of the Opposition to respond to the President's Presidential Statement.
