The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling. The meeting will be held on Wednesday.
South Africa appealed to the ICJ for an order to stop the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, to which the ICJ ruled that Israel must halt all acts which would amount to genocide. In addition, they have been given a deadline of one month to display the actions taken to prevent genocidal acts by its forces, as well as enable the provision of aid to Gazans.
The Security Council will hold an emergency meeting next week, the President of the Security Council said, in line with Algeria's proposal.
Algeria's Foreign Ministry said it believed the ICJ's decision would be strengthened by discussing it at the UN Security Council.
