President Dr. Muizzu Departs for New York to Attend the 79th Session of the UNGA

President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has left for New York, USA, to participate in the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Accompanied by a high-level delegation, President Muizzu’s visit marks a significant moment for the Maldives on the international stage.
The President is scheduled to deliver his address to the General Assembly on September 24th, His agenda also includes attending several crucial meetings, delivering remarks at side events, and engaging in bilateral and multilateral discussions with senior leaders from various countries.
One of the highlights of President Muizzu’s trip is his historic participation in a United Nations Security Council debate, making him the first Maldivian leader to do so. This event underscores his administration’s commitment to enhancing Maldives’ role in global governance and diplomacy.
In addition to his address at the General Assembly, President Muizzu will participate in the Summit of the Future, where discussions will focus on future global security and development strategies. He will also deliver remarks at Princeton University, further emphasizing his commitment to international collaboration and innovation.
Spokesperson Heena Waleed confirmed that the President’s visit is aimed at strengthening Maldives’ ties with the global community while advocating for key issues that affect the nation and the world at large.
President Muizzu is expected to return to the Maldives on September 29th.
