Foreign Minister Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations with France

French Ambassador to Maldives, Jean-François Pactet, met with Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry, Minister Zameer welcomed the Ambassador and highlighted the close and friendly relations between Maldives and France.

Foreign Minister Zameer and Ambassador Pactet discussed economic development, climate change and adaptation, security cooperation, facilitating travel for Maldives to Europe and reducing tariffs on Maldivian fish products.

They also discussed multilateral cooperation between the two countries on issues related to small island nations, oceans and biodiversity. Minister Zameer said Maldives is ready to work with France on all of these potential areas of cooperation.

Ambassador Pactet assured Minister Zameer of his willingness to work with the Maldives government to strengthen bilateral relations.
