Parliament Confirms Abdur Raheem Abdul Lateef as Non-Resident Ambassador to Azerbaijan

The Parliament of Maldives has unanimously approved the appointment of Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdur Raheem Abdul Lateef as the Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

His nomination, submitted on April 7 under Article 115 (dh) of the Constitution and Article 14 of the Maldives Foreign Service Act, was reviewed by the relevant committee before being tabled for a vote at today’s sitting.

All 66 members present voted in favor of the appointment.

Abdur Raheem, a distinguished military leader, previously served as the Chief of Defence Force. He hails from G. Kandhutholhiage and brings with him extensive leadership experience that is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Maldives and Azerbaijan.
