Maldives Hosts Investment Forum for Azerbaijani Delegation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized an information forum from January 13-16, 2025, showcasing investment opportunities in the Maldives to a high-level Azerbaijani delegation. The forum is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and foster economic collaboration between the two nations.
The event followed discussions held during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Baku for COP29 in November 2024. It featured presentations from representatives of key Maldivian ministries and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), highlighting investment prospects in renewable energy, housing, infrastructure, sustainable tourism, and logistics.
Moderated by Ambassador-at-Large Abdullah Hameed, the forum aimed to deepen economic relationships and pave the way for meaningful collaborations. Ambassador Hameed expressed optimism that the forum would inspire new initiatives and build lasting connections between the business communities of the Maldives and Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov, included government officials and representatives from prominent Azerbaijani companies. They engaged in discussions with senior Maldivian officials to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
Senior officials from the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Secretary for Economic Cooperation Hussain Niyaaz, Secretary for Bilateral Relations Hala Hameed, and Additional Secretary Farzana Zahir, also attended the event, underscoring its significance in fostering stronger economic ties.
