Fuvahmulah Airport will be Developed for Jet Landings

The Regional Airports Company (RAC) has announced that it will further develop the airport in Fuvamulah City.
The work includes extending the runway, providing jet parking services and jet fuel. This expansion of the airport will be an aid in generating more tourism in the area, which, in turn, will create more job opportunities in the tourism sector in that region.
The runway at Fuvahmulah Airport will be extended and developed to accommodate large planes, as one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential promises.
The 1200 metre runway cannot be extended as it is now. If the runway is extended, part of the residential area will have to be transferred to the airport. A team from the Regional Airports Company has held discussions with the Fuvahmulah City Council to discuss these issues, and how to best use the space in the island to for the residents and the airports extension.
The government will announce the contractor assigned to conduct the relevant surveys to determine the cost of the runway extension and other relevant findings next week.
