Aasandha to Cover UAE & Thailand

Thailand and the UAE, which offer the best medical care in the world, but are widely regarded as having high healthcare costs, are in talks with the Government to start the process of making Aasandha available for use by Maldivians in those countries.
In a press release issued today, Aasandha said it was “reluctant” to send patients to countries other than India and Sri Lanka for treatment abroad. The company's Managing Director said the statement was misleading. The company said the government had not announced its decision to expand the service. The Aasandha company further said that the government's official announcement would misrepresent the facts and create unrest in the hearts of the people.
The United Arab Emirates and Thailand have announced that they will increase the number of countries where people can get treatment abroad and reduce the dependence on a particular country.
Speaking to reporters at the Velana International Airport after completing his official visit to China, the President said the government has decided to end the standard of Aasandha being used only in health centers in India.
The President said that countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Thailand will be covered by the services of Aasandha, where quality medical services are available. The President said that the countries will provide medical treatment under Aasandha and accommodation will be arranged by the national insurance company, as well.
The largest amount of money disbursed by Aasandha to foreign hospitals went to Indian hospitals. A total of 1,405,469,259.61 MVR has been disbursed to hospitals in India during the past 10 years and two months.
