The Ministry of Social and Family Development has launched a program to ensure that every child in state care is entrusted or fostered to families who want to look after such children.
The Ministry has announced that families are now able to apply to foster the children under the care of the state.
According to the 2022 figures released by the Children in State Care, Fostering and Reintegration Service, 40 children have been taken into the care of the ministry. There were 23 girls and 17 boys.
Statistics show that 40 children have been reintegrated with families or jobs and internship opportunities. Among those children, there were 22 girls and 18 boys. In addition, by 2022, the state has provided parents for 10 children. There were seven girls and three boys.
The Ministry of Social and Family Development had earlier said that temporary custody would be granted for two years, during which time it would try to facilitate all means for the child to return to his birth family.
