PPM Holds Largest Political Rally in Maldives, Calls for Release of Former President Yameen

MALE, Maldives — The Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) held a massive rally in the capital city of Male on February 3rd, 2023. The peaceful demonstration was attended by thousands of supporters, making it the largest political rally in the country in recent times.
The participants of the rally called for the release of former President Abdulla Yameen, who was convicted of money laundering and bribery charges and is currently serving an 11-year sentence. The rally was part of the three-day conference organized by PPM called "Hope", which began on February 2nd and will conclude on February 4th.
Over a thousand delegates from across the Maldives have gathered for the conference, with the aim of preparing the party for the upcoming presidential elections set to take place in September 2023. The conference serves as a platform for PPM to present their policies and plans for the future of the country.

The peaceful demonstration and the conference were widely covered by local media and received a lot of attention from the public. The PPM rally and conference show the growing support for the opposition party in the lead-up to the crucial presidential elections.
