The opposition coalition has expressed concern over the use of state resources for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidential primary campaign.
In a statement, the opposition condemned President Solih's illegal use of state resources during the campaign.
The statement noted that President Solih, who has a long history of disobeying electoral laws, is once again misusing his constitutional powers and using the state TV channel to openly campaign for mdp's internal presidential primaries.
The opposition also pointed out that President Solih's strong violation of the electoral laws comes at a time when the coalition's leader and opposition presidential candidate, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, was imprisoned illegally.
The opposition has called on the Maldives Police Service and the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections for Maldivians and to ensure justice for President Yameen.
PSM has significantly promoted President Solih's primary campaign event held at MDP's campaign HQ on Wednesday night. During the meeting, PSM tweeted along with President Solih's speech clips.
