Member of Parliament for the Meedhoo Constituency Rozaina Adam claimed that Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) was never the problem, but the real problem was the former president and leader of the party, President Mohamed Nasheed.
In a Tweet, Rozaina stated that the people have seen President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration running a smooth and fair government, and the members of MDP no longer protest on the streets.
Rozaina asserted that President Solih is well liked amongst the law enforcement; Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
Therefore, Rozaina concluded that the problem was not with MDP as a main-ruling party but with the former president.
Criticizing President Nasheed, Rozaina added that President Solih has not committed unlawful acts and never exhibited signs of a dictatorship.
Rozaina stated that President Solih has never made unnecessary remarks such as “no one wants to stay sober twenty-four-seven”. She concluded that MDP members no longer feel obligated to defend comments made by the president.
Finally, Rozaina asserted that MDP members believe that this administration had been a relief, unlike the former MDP administration where they were stressed and pressured to defend unprofessional comments made by the former President Nasheed.
