An Indian citizen has been arrested and charged with the consumption of liquor and its sale.
The man named Kalidurai Senthil Murugan was arrested from K. Thilafushi was summoned to the Criminal Court to decide the terms of his detention. The court ordered for him to be detained for an additional 15 days.
The court ordered detention sanction issued yesterday stated that authorities had found incriminating evidence on the individual to be charged with possession, consumption and sale of alcohol.
Therefore, the sanction stated that the man was being held for the safety and security of the society.
Expatriates coming to the Maldives for various ongoing projects have been frequently spotted roaming the streets, high on drugs and alcohol. Despite the public scrutiny, the complaints have gone unaddressed and unattended.
