A Maldivian man who was apprehended during a special police operation in Addu City's Hithadhoo district, where he was found in possession of 50 bottles of alcohol, has been released from custody by the court. The operation, conducted based on intelligence received regarding an alcohol smuggling attempt to Hithadhoo, involved the collaborative efforts of the Hithadhoo Police Station and Police Intelligence. The 43-year-old man was arrested in Hithadhoo's woods, where the alcohol was discovered. However, during a subsequent remand hearing at the Hithadhoo Magistrate Court, he was released. Prior to this operation, another operation took place in Hithadhoo, during which materials believed to be used for brewing alcohol were seized, but no arrests were made at that time.
