Former FVM Mayor Appointed To Political Position

Abdullah Falah Shareef, the former Mayor of Fuvahmulah City, has been appointed as a deputy minister at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.
The President's Office announced Shareef's appointment today.
Prior to this mayoral post, Shareef had also been President of the Gnaviyani Atoll Council.
In the last local council elections, Shareef had unsuccessfully run in the Maldivian Democratic Party's mayoral primaries.
Addu City's former mayor, Abdullah "Sobe" Sodiq, had also lost in the MDP's mayoral primaries during the last local council election cycle. Similarly, Sodiq had been appointed as State Minister at the Planning Ministry.
The MDP's mayoral candidate for Male City Council, Anas Abdus-Sattar, had also been appointed as a State Minister after his loss to Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
