The new Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, arrived in the country today.
Mahawar was appointed to the post last Friday by Indian President, Ram Nath Kovind. Mahawar will begin his duties as High Commissioner today.
Mahawar had previously been stationed in Oman. Mahawar had joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1996. From 1998 to 2001, he had been stationed in Moscow, Russia. He had then been stationed in Geneva, Switzerland from 2008 to 2011.
Mahawar had also served as a Director at the Prime Minister’s Office and had also served in the External Affairs Ministry. Mahawar replaces Sanjay Sudheer, who was transferred to the United Arab Emirates.
