Man who Threatened to Blow Up Indian High Commission Released

The Indian High Commission has relaxed its security measures after a period of heightened security following a bomb threat that had been made against the High Commission. The 41-year-old Maldivian man, Mohamed Inadh; who had been apprehended for posting a violent threat against the High Commission on Twitter; has been released from police custody.
Inadh had posted a threat on Twitter that he would be procuring RDX, an explosive substance, to attack the Indian High Commission and that he would act on his threat soon. He made these comments through a pseudonymous account named Royal Hussain Thakuru.
The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) laid terrorism charges against Inadh who would, if convicted, serve a prison sentence of 4-6 years.
Inadh was freed by the court at the request of PGO. PGO's spokesperson stated that Inadh was freed as he made the threat via social media and that he did not make any attempts to carry out the attack.
Inadh is an active member of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). He had been nominated for a seat in the Machchangolhi-South constituency during the parliamentary primaries.
In response to Inadh's threat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had released a statement claiming that the threat had been made under the influence of a tweet posted by Dhiyares that had been critical of Indian policies regarding the Maldives.
