MDP Concerned over not Declaring State of Emergency

The main ruling party MDP concerned due to the failure to declare a state of emergency as an immediate action in face of the rising threats of terrorism in the Maldives.
In a statement that was released expressing concern over a bomb threat message which was written on a pillar of the mosque Masjid Al-Noor. The message said that very soon a bomb blast will occur in the Male’ City.
The statement also stated that given mosques are holy sites, the threat was written by terrorists who are preparing for an attack. The statement also said that the country is drowning with the stand of extremists revealing themselves through such attacks. MDP also called for action to be taken to protect the Maldives from terror attacks.
The Disappearances and Deaths Commission, in its investigative report, stated that some extremist leaders propagate their ideologies are in collaboration with international terror organizations in mosques, including Masjid Al-Noor, to find such a threat being written in the mosque opens room for suspicion security services have failed to conduct proper surveillance and investigations despite that,” said MDP in its statement.
The statement further stated that it is a concern that the government is not taking action and declaring a state of emergency in the face of terrorist attacks. MDP called on security services to take action to protect the Maldives from terrorism.
