Indians Allegedly Spying on Pres. Yameen Reported to Police

Opposition leader and former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s legal team has reported to police that he was spied on.
A photo circulating on social media indicates that Indians were taking pictures and videos of H. Dhoovehi, President Yameen’s home. The source sharing the photo stated that the two people secretly took pictures of the former president’s residence and that it was not just a one-time incident.
Lawyer Adam Shameem of President Yameen’s team informed local media Sun that the matter was reported to police as soon as the team was made aware through social media. He claimed that the video shows the suspects pointing the camera secretly, and divulged that the legal team believes it is a serious matter as President Yameen has previously been targeted during his tenure.
He added that the recent amendment to the Police Act mandates the police to take preemptive measures to halt crimes, and that police have been requested to investigate whether there is a threat to the former president. “The recent attack on Nasheed is proof that there is a great danger to former presidents in the Maldives. He was barely alive… police appear to be cooperative. Said they will inform MNDF as well. That they will do everything that must be done”. Shameem assured that the legal team will now cease its work.
