Parliament representative for Maavashu constituency Mohamed Saeed has stated that he is witnessing the government's desperation.
Saeed made his statement regarding former President and Opposition Coalition Leader Yameen Abdul Gayoom being summoned to the President Commission on Deaths and Enforced Disappearances (DDCom).
President Yameen's legal team revealed that he has been summoned to DDCom on suspicion of being involved in the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan.
DDCom claimed they are summoning the former President for questioning in relation to Rilwan's disappearance. The Commission did not reveal further details.
MP Saeed tweeted that he is witnessing the government taking desperate measures. He also stated that President Yameen will not flee the country due to the threats from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his peers.
He stressed that President Solih must understand that votes in the upcoming presidential election will not be coming from citizens of a foreign nation.
