President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the government has acquired enough doses for those who have yet to complete the second dose of COVID-19 vaccines, and that the government aims to complete vaccinations for 90 percent of the eligible population by the end of next month.
Addressing the nation on the occasion of Maldives’ 56th Independence Day, President Solih claimed that the country has enough stock for the unvaccinated population. He announced the initiation of a large-scale vaccination program within the coming week.
The President revealed the program aims to complete vaccinations of the entire eligible population, and urged the people to seize the opportunity to get vaccinated.
He further stated that in light of the difficult situations due to COVID-19, people must focus on resuming normal life with the current safety measures. President Solih reiterated the need to prioritize economic growth.
President Solih also thanked health workers, police, the defense force, and volunteers who have been working on the frontlines.
