Pres. Nasheed More Trustworthy than Rozaina: MP Imthiyaz

Parliament representative for Maafannu-North constituency Imthiyaz Fahmy (Inthi) has stated that he trusts former President Nasheed as he is the only leader speaking against extremism.

Inthi made his statement in response to Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam questioning whether members of the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) are shackled.

Chairperson of the Parliamentary 241 Committee Mohamed Aslam previously claimed that MDP members must not stand against President Solih or act in ways that weaken the government. Inthi responded that President Nasheed is the only leader speaking against extremism, which is why he was the target of the May 6 terror attack. He claimed that MDP members should have nothing more to say on the matter as the former President has been speaking of the reason the nation is in its current state, looking for a solution, and highlighting the delays even in his current state.

In response to Inthi’s statement, Rozaina inquired why and asked if members of MDP are shackled.

MP Imthiyaz replied it is because he trusts President Nasheed more than he trusts Rozaina.

He further stated that Nasheed is the leader of MDP, and the only leader to speak against extremism. He claimed that was the reason why the former president was attacked and justified that was the reason why he trusted Nasheed most.
