Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has departed to India.
Minister Shahid tweeted today that he is departing on an official visit to India as President-elect of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He revealed that the visit is upon the invitation of the Indian Government.
The minister is planning to meet with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Indian Foreign Secretary Dr. Jaishankar.
Although Minister Shahid is visiting as the President-elect of the UN General Assembly, the UN will not bear the cost of his trip. The Maldivian government will bear the expenses.
Foreign Minister Shahid spent several million Rufiyaa while campaigning for the UN General Assembly election.
