Former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed declared that some occurrences within security forces are alarming.
Former President Nasheed made his statement during an event held to hand over the report complied on the parliamentary inquiry into the May 6 terror attack.
Although he stated there were alarming matters within security forces, he provided no further details. "We should be concerned about some of the incidents occurring within the security forces. They must be amended", said Nasheed.
Speaker Nasheed then implored President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to speed up the investigation into the attack, claiming he is confident the president would not delay the investigative measures.
Additionally, Nasheed requested Chief Justice Muthasin Adnan to revise the report. "It is important to bring the recommendations and instructions in the report to the attention of the Chief Justice, as the report details legal action to be taken regarding the matter, and the steps to be taken".
Now seeking further treatment in the United Kingdom after being treated in Germany, former President Nasheed declared the inquiry report was not a personal matter. If the amendments recommended in the report are not implemented, the government and the public will face danger, said Nasheed.
"The risk to the public is extremely high if we delay prosecuting this issue. The threat to the Maldivian economy is especially high".
