Ease in restrictions for South Asian work permit holders traveling to Maldives after completing COVID-19 vaccinations.
Although work permit holders from South Asia have been allowed to visit Maldives from Wednesday onwards, they are only allowed to fly to Maldives with a negative PCR test conducted no more than 96 hours before departure. Those who have completed their vaccinations are to quarantine for seven days upon arrival.
The person will be quarantined in a facility assigned by their hiring company, or Health Protection Agency (HPA). Those who have not completed their COVID-19 vaccinations face a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival. Three guesthouses have been allocated for the quarantine of work permit holders from South Asia; the Beehive Hotel and Three Inn in Male', and White Harp in Hulhumale'.
Work permit holders entering Maldives must do an additional PCR test within 48 to 72 hours of arrival. The cost of the tests, transport, and expenses during the quarantine period must be borne by the individual or the hiring company.
