Nasheed Claims Govt. Not Involved in Attack

Former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed claimed that he does not believe the government was involved in the attack near his car.
Former President Nasheed is currently in the United Kingdom, receiving treatment for injuries acquired from the blast on May 6. Previously, he heavily criticized government administrations and officials regarding the investigation.
As more information on the attack surfaced, Nasheed's family and supporters made a number of accusations against the government. However, Speaker Nasheed on Monday night claimed he did not believe the government was involved in the attack.
"I don't believe the government was involved at all, all the citizens know that I am the government as well. It's very hard for me to consider that the government was involved in the attack", said Nasheed.
He further stated it was important to find those who were behind the terrorist attack and those who funded it. "If we don't find those who planned and funded the attack, it will be difficult for me to reside calmly in Male", said the former president.
