MP Mahloof
Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof declared that despite being part of Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), he does not agree with all of its actions.
Mahloof made his declaration during a meeting on Clubhouse, in response to an inquiry from a citizen. He was asked when his political ideals began to fit those of MDP, as the minister had made his way into politics with Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), then Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
The minister claimed that he had entered into politics with DRP and PPM, and that there was no need to explain in detail as everyone is already aware of how things occurred. He claimed that everyone was aware of the problems that led to his removal from the party.
He further stated that he joined MDP as he grew to like some of their ideologies while working alongside them. However, he reiterated that did not mean he agreed with all of their actions, and that there are several aspects of the party he dislikes.
Highlighting that one must accept that there will be disagreements, he divulged that disliking certain ideologies is not being against former President Nasheed of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. It must not be assumed as such, said Mahloof.
