Save Addu Requests Support from Political Parties

The Save Addu team has addressed a letter to all political parties to join the 'Save Addu Campaign'.
The team has urged political parties to join their movement and pressure authorities to abolish and revise agreements between the Maldivian military and foreign militaries that threaten the sovereignty and security of the nation.
The letter from Save Addu was addressed to nine political parties including Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), People's National Congress (PNC), Adhaalath Party, and Jumhooree Party.
The team praised collaborating with other countries for development projects without military influence. However, they stated that the establishment of foreign military forces in Maldives would lead to the loss of independence. The team expressed great concern over the presence of foreign military forces in Maldives.
The Save Addu Campaign was initiated by youths in Addu protesting against the establishment of an Indian Consulate in Addu City. The team raises its voice against the presence of foreign powers with diplomatic immunity in Addu and other regions in Maldives, as they pose a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Maldives.
