The Criminal Court extended the detention periods of four arrested in relation to the terror attack on former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.
Police revealed the four to be 25-year-old Adham Ahmed, 21-year-old Mujaz Ahmed, 32-year-old Thahumeen Ahmed, and 23-year-old Ahmed Fathih.
Police informed several news outlets that the court on June 22 increased the detention period for Adham, Mujaz, and Thahumeen by 30 days. This is the fourth time the court has increased their holding periods.
While three of the four culprits were given an extension of 30 days, the detention period for Fathih was increased by 15 days on June 20. This is the third time the period was increased.
Adham was the one to detonate the bomb. Thahumeen is suspected to be the owner of the motorcycle the bomb was attached to.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, during a press conference on Tuesday, stated that police are in the process of requesting the Prosecutor General's Office to charge four of the eight suspects they are currently investigating.
Neither the President nor police have shared further information regarding the rest of the suspects involved in the case.
