6% of Samples Positive in the Past Week

Six percent of samples from the Greater Male’ Area in the past week tested positive for COVID-19.
Spokesperson for the President’s Office Mabrook Azeez, responding to a question from Dhiyares, revealed the number of samples taken within the Male’ area and the number of positive results.
Number of samples and positive results in the past week
June 13: 113 positive cases out of 1166 samples
June 14: 125 positive cases out of 1880 samples
June 15: 111 positive cases out of 1482 samples
June 16: 90 positive cases out of 1174 samples
June 17: 86 positive cases out of 1284 samples
June 18: 51 positive cases out of 1401 samples
June 19: 54 positive cases out of 844 samples
Out of a total of 9231 samples taken in the Greater Male’ Area, 630 samples tested positive; which is six percent.
World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020, released a guideline that stated if less than 5 percent of samples taken within a population test positive, the spread of COVID-19 is considered to be under control. Therefore, the Greater Male’ Area is not considered to have the virus under control yet.
