First Lady's Niece Appointed as Climate Change Envoy

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appoints Foreign Relations Secretary Sabra Noordeen as the new Special Envoy for Climate Change.

The President's Office reported the appointment was made under Article 11 of the Climate Emergency Act. Her position is of equal rank to state minister according to the President's Office.

Sabra is the daughter of renowned businessman Ibrahim Noordeen, and niece of First Lady Fazna Ahmed.

During the tenure of President Mohamed Nasheed, she served as Director of the Police Intelligence Department, where she leaked information on officers providing intel.
