Opposition Wins Atoll Council President for President Solih's Constituency

Opposition candidate Yaaseen has won the Atoll Council President seat for the current sitting President Solih's Constituency Hinnavaru.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is from the island of Lh. Hinnavaru. The capital of Naifaru also elected seven opposition candidates to the council.

The citizens of Naifaru elected Saajidhaa Mohamed, Ahmed Saajidh, Abdulla Hassan, Aishath Heena, Mariyam Luhaa and Ahmed Shifau.

Yesterday's Local Council Elections proved that MDP had lost a lot of core support in their main constituencies which they have been victorious over previously. The most notable being that Opposition flipped the capital city. This is the first time MDP has lost majority in Male' City after the decentralised system of governing was established,
