Minister of Defence, Uza Mariya Didi said that the opposition coalition's electoral victory was due to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s wisdom.
The Minister of Defence claimed that the secret behind the opposition coalition's win was the President's wisdom and the concerted effort of the ruling MDP's Majlis members to create a political space that could foster a multi-party democracy.
The ruling MDP had, for the first time in its history, lost its majority in Male City in yesterday's election. A majority of the council seats had been won by the opposition. Dr Mohamed Muizzu won the mayoral race against the MDP's Anas Abdul Sattar. Mayor-elect Dr Muizzu will be the first mayor of Male City who does not belong to the MDP.
