Hoping for a Bigger Win Than Majlis Elections: President Solih

President of the Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that his hopes are to garner a bigger win in this Local Council Election compared to the People’s Majlis election of 2019.
The President stated this during his speech to the press after he cast his ballot at the Jamaludhin School polling station for Hinnavaru Constituency.
The President further noted that this would bring about a significant change in the governance of Maldives and pointed out the obstacles to polling and voting during this election.
As voter numbers were quite low, the President urged as many citizens as possible to come out and vote.
The President noted that his hope was an estimate of a 65% win for the Male’ City Mayor seat and a large win for MDP collectively in the Local Council Elections and that despite the voter numbers in the morning, turnout in the afternoon would hopefully increase.
