Opposition Coalition’s interim leader Progressive Congress Party’s leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla has stated that he does not believe that the upcoming Local Council Elections are free and independent from influence.
Adhurey stated this in an interview that he gave to Adhadhu News. He stated that opposition was not provided a chance to travel through the Maldives to campaign and meet citizens despite the government and ruling party having the permission to do so for functions such as the inauguration of development projects, signing ceremonies. Following various other reasoning, leaders of the country and government have been travelling around Maldives.
He further stated that the majority of MDP’s members were stationed around Maldives. As an example he pointed out Addu City. Addu City Mayoral Candidate Mohamed Latheef (Latheebe) is currently in Addy City in quarantine and that the members that travelled two or so days ago were campaigning without quarantining in the City.
Adhurey stated that PPM will win this Local Council Election by a large percentage and that the PPM Mayoral Candidate will succeed in this LCE writing Maldivian history.
