President’s Office Publishes Incomplete Asset Declaration for Undersecretary Hisaan

Although the President’s Office had published the asset declaration document of Undersecretary Mohamed Hisaan Ali Fahmy, it has come to light that the document is incomplete.

Once Dhiyares, the sister-newspaper of The Maldives Journal, had reported the absence of Hisaan’s asset declaration; he had responded that he had already submitted his declaration on February 2.

However, the President’s Office had published asset declarations for all of its high-ranking officials a year ago. The President’s Office has consistently claimed that anything amiss with the published asset declaration were “mistakes”.

Hisaan’s asset declaration document shows that he had earned MVR 114,000 over the past 6 months, and also that he owned a stake worth MVR 42,000 in CED Pvt Ltd.

However, Hisaan had not declared any private property he owned or any businesses he had interests in.
